has anyone reported mpi to cra? they collect tax and cpp from my iri but do
not contribute those funds to my cra and cpp accounts and do not issue a T4A for
disability income. i called cra and was surprised to learn that if mpi collects
it and calls it tax, cpp, and employment insurance they are supposed to apply to
your accounts. that was the thoughts of the person i spoke to. have forms
coming to file a complaint. i also will be filing a phia and fippa
complaints for sharing my personal and medical information. not my fault they
do not read their own consent to share forms. i either cross off the portions
that give consent to share with either a outside provider or internal
departments, and always write in the doctor or places name so it is not an open
consent for mpi to do what they want, as well as change the time it is valid for
from two years to six months. you are only required to let mpi collect your
information.by doing this the only persons who are allowed to look at you
information is your case manager and the clerk who files it.
any other ways to fight would be appreciated. |

Howard,
MPI is a provincial Gov't bureaucratic crown corporation. Therefore, all Manitobans paying so-called
premiums/insurance rates is actually paying a provincial TAX. Everyone paying this, should be claiming it on
their provincial tax form at income tax time. Those funds are used within the province for infrastructure, roads
and bridges etc., just as your property taxes are used for municipal costs for local infrastructure. Buyer
beware - those funds pay for lots within the province, but beware if you have to make a claim, especially for
medical rehabilitation and/or lifelong injuries. No lawsuit allowed and unless a person is rich, they won't get
legal representation. It's a lot of fun (sarcasm) purchasing the legislation and regulations to learn it, and use it
against MPI. |

Ryan,
I'm not sure how it works for minors, as the minor probably wasn't "working" and/or making an income.
However, in Ontario there is a "Disability" fund that all people can apply for, and if qualified under their terms
of disability, would receive some sort of monthly funding. For minors, that would usually cover costs
associated with their disability. As for a brain injury caused by a MVA, MPI should be covering all Rehab costs
such as physiotherapy, Occupational therapy (which assists in learning ways to deal with memory losses, etc.)
and MPI HAS to cover all costs needed for rehab equipment that the person needs in getting as close to their
previous life prior to the accident. That means everything associated to the accident. |

I too am disgusted with MPIC. Canada has an Insurance Act which governs management of these companies
however MPIC does not fall under this governance as a “Public Utility”. Manitobans deserve the use of a real
Insurance provider and protection of our Federal Insurance Act!
MPIC works against it’s customers, uses excess reserves to finance political whims and screws Manitoba
insureds every chance it gets. |

Mary Ann
Hello Mary Ann, does your daughter receive any income replacement at the IWA? |

My son was a minor and suffered a mild traumatic brain injury, it has affected his memory and
cognitive abilities dramatically. Does MPI award any income replacement benefits? Or does anyone
know his entitlements? |

I am looking for a truly independent appraiser to fight MPI on my claim . Someone
who has NO connection to Autopac in anyway |
